St Joseph’s School

Today, I learnt how to use Google Maps to find my buddy School and I learnt how to resize my canvas on Google Draw. I learnt that St Joseph’s School is jn Grey Lynn in Auckland and is close to a scenic reserve. My tip is to move your fingers slowly across the touch pad when zooming in or out. I learnt to add arrows which is called annotation.

weaving a Matariki kite

Matariki is a day that we celebrate Maori New year .We also are making Matariki kites in our class and we had to use paper bags  to make our kites.

At the beginning we had to cut the paper bag into two parts. Then we made some Maori designs on one and we painted them. We used red, black and white paint. I like my design which I used from the whiteboard. I painted the other brown sheet green.

When they were dry my teacher cut them for us into eight strips so we could weave them together.

To do in and out we did it like 100 times. It was very hard to do. We

all tried our best to make our Matariki kites and it took us ages to master our weaving. Finally we braided three colours of twine to make the tail. Then Mrs Yumul glue gunned a feather and some fern branches onto the bollom. I love my Matariki kite. Our kites turned out very good and we had so much fun making my Matariki kite.

Torty, the Lucky Tortoise

During the First World War in Salonika, Greece there was a tortoise named Torty who was run over by a gun carriage but survived. Stewart, a New Zealand soldier, rescued her and they became really good friends. They travelled to New Zealand after the war and it took them five months while Torty was hibernating. Stewart and Torty had many adventures, one of them was when Torty was stolen and taken to the circus. Luckily a policeman found her and took her back to family.

This is my drawing of Torty.
